What we collect,
and what we don't.

Short version: we ask for the four things it takes to put you on an event list and get a ticket to you, we never see your card details, and this site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers of any kind.

What we ask you for

Only at the point you register for an event:
- Your full name.
- Your roll number or college ID.
- Your email address.
- The event you are registering for.
That is the whole registration record. We do not ask for your address, your date of birth, your gender, or your phone number.
Payments

Paid events are processed by Razorpay. Your card number, UPI ID, netbanking credentials and CVV are entered on Razorpay's own checkout and never reach this site or its servers — we could not store them if we wanted to.

What we do store against your registration is the Razorpay order ID, the payment ID and the amount, which is what lets us confirm a payment and issue the right ticket. Razorpay handles that data under its own privacy policy.
The Signal Range leaderboard

If you play the game on the homepage and submit a score, we store the display name you type, the score, the streak, shots, hits and how long the run lasted.

We also store a one-way salted hash of your IP address — not the address itself. It exists only so the rate limiter can tell two submissions apart, it cannot be reversed back into an address, and it is never shown to anyone.
What stays in your browser

Your sound on/off choice, the music playhead, the name you last used on the leaderboard and whether you have already seen the boot sequence are kept in your own browser's local storage.

Those never leave your device and are never sent to us. Clearing your browser data clears them.
No cookies, no trackers

This site sets no cookies at all — not for analytics, not for advertising, not for preferences.

There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no session recording and no third-party tracking script anywhere on it. We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone for marketing, and there is nothing to opt out of because nothing is switched on.
Who else is involved

Three third parties touch this site, and that is the complete list:
- Razorpay — processes payments for paid events.
- Our email provider — delivers your ticket. It sees your name, email address and event.
- Google Fonts — serves two of the typefaces. Your browser fetches them from Google directly, which means Google sees your IP address the way it would for any file loaded from another domain.
The site is hosted by NITK's Centre for Computing (CCC) on engineer.nitk.ac.in, and the registration data sits on the institute's infrastructure.
Why we are allowed to hold it

You give us the registration details so that we can enter you into an event; we use them for that and for telling you about that event. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, that is consent you give for a stated purpose, and we do not use the data for a different one.
How long we keep it

Registration and payment records are kept through the festival and for one year afterwards, which is what the accounts need. After that they are deleted or reduced to counts that identify nobody.

Leaderboard entries are cleared at the end of the festival.
Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to the address below from the email address you registered with and we will act on it.

Deleting a registration before the event means it is withdrawn — we cannot hold a place on a list with no name on it.
Keeping it safe

The site is served over HTTPS. Payment confirmations are verified by signature before a registration is marked paid, so a confirmation cannot be forged, and ticket download links are signed so one person's link cannot be edited into someone else's ticket.

There are no user accounts and no passwords on this site, so there is no password of yours for us to lose.
Participants under 18

Some events are open to school students. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should register on your behalf and is treated as the person giving consent under this policy.
Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes before the festival will also go out to registrants by email.

Getting in touch

Anything on this page — a question, a correction, a request about your own data, or a refund — goes to the festival convenor, who is a student and will answer like one.
