The rules
of taking part.
Last updated 16 September 2026
ENGINEER '26 · NITK Surathkal
These terms cover this website and registration for ENGINEER '26. Registering for an event means you accept them. Individual events also carry their own rules on their own pages — where the two differ, the event page wins.
-
Who can take part
ENGINEER is open to students. Most events are open to any college; a few are restricted to a year, a discipline or a team size, and a few are open to school students. The restriction that applies is the one printed on that event's own page.
We may ask to see a valid student ID at the venue. If the ID does not match the registration, the registration is not valid.
-
Registering
A registration is for one named person and one named event. It is not transferable to another person, and it does not carry over to another event.
The details you enter must be accurate. We use the email address to send your ticket and any change to the event, so a wrong address means you will not hear from us.
-
Fees and confirmation
Some events are free and some are paid. The fee is shown on the event page and again on the registration form before you pay — you will never be charged an amount you have not seen.
A paid registration is confirmed when the payment succeeds and the ticket reaches your email. Money leaving your account is not by itself confirmation: if the payment did not complete on our side, see the refund policy.
-
Conduct on campus
NITK Surathkal's campus rules and the institute's code of conduct apply for the whole festival, including the parts of it that happen after dark.
The organising committee can remove anyone from an event or from the campus for unsafe behaviour, harassment, damage to property, or being under the influence. Removal on those grounds does not come with a refund.
-
Changes to the programme
A festival of this size moves. Timings, venues, judges, formats and prize structures can change, and events can be cancelled — usually for weather, safety or a speaker who cannot travel.
Changes are published on this site, and we email registrants of an affected event wherever we have their address. If we cancel an event outright, the refund policy applies.
-
Prizes
Prizes are awarded on the rules published on each event's page. Where a rule is not published there, the judges' and the organising committee's decision is final.
Winners will be asked for a college ID and, for a bank transfer, account details in the winner's own name. Any tax on prize money is the winner's responsibility.
-
Photography and filming
The festival is photographed and filmed, and the footage is used to publicise later editions. Attending an event means you may appear in it.
If you would rather not, tell the event coordinator at the venue and write to us at the address below, and we will keep you out of published material where we reasonably can.
-
What we are and are not responsible for
Take part at your own risk. Some events involve machinery, flight, electricity or height, and each of those carries its own safety brief that you are expected to follow.
We are not liable for personal belongings lost or damaged on campus, for travel and accommodation you book around the festival, or for indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
-
This website
The design, text, code and marks on this site belong to ENGINEER and NITK Surathkal. Event brochures and logos belong to the clubs and partners that made them.
What you build at the festival stays yours. Submitting a project to an event does not transfer any right in it to us beyond showing and describing it as part of the festival.
-
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka have jurisdiction.
